About the strategy
The Stairway to Medellin strategy, conceived within the Fifth United Nations World Data Forum, is an initiative designed to foster inclusivity and collaboration among diverse stakeholders in the data ecosystem, such as institutions. citizens, experts and the community, favoring their engagement and involvement with the Forum and its core themes.
This strategy aims to establish a prominent platform for showcasing good practices and key learnings in data-driven sustainable development, by connecting events such as workshops, webinars, and conferences to the critical issues of the Fifth United Nations World Data Forum.
Its General objective is to promote a global and inclusive summit centered on the participation of data ecosystem stakeholders at local, national, regional and global levels. The previous, during the Fifth United Nations World Data Forum, as well as in its former discussions on data and statistics aligned to Forum's thematic agenda.
The "Stairway to Medellín" strategy transcends a local initiative, positioning itself as a global endeavor inviting worldwide participation in discussions on sustainable data and statistics aligned with the 2030 Agenda. This strategy aims to transcend national boundaries, creating an inclusive environment where citizens from all over the world can contribute innovative ideas, proposals, and participate in critical discussions within the expanding data and statistics community. By inviting experts, professionals and citizens from various countries, "Stairway to Medellín" promotes a global collaboration that enriches both, the dialogue and solutions developed. Thus, the strategy not only strengthens Medellín’s positioning on the international stage, but also encourages active participation from the international community in the foyer of the World Data Forum, creating a positive and sustainable impact both locally and globally.

To foster the discussion around the issues to be addressed within the Fifth United Nations World Data Forum.
The positioning of the city of Medellín as a Science, Technology and Innovation district.
